The Quartetto di Cremona formed in 2000 has made its mark on the international chamber music scene. Starting at the Stauffer Academy of Salvatore Accardo in Cremona and continuing at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole, they continued to study with Hatto Beyerle of the Alban Berg Quartet.
The Quartetto has played to critical acclaim in the most important venues and Festivals in Europe and overseas. These include Wigmore Hall London, Beethoven Haus and BeethovenFest Bonn, Konzerthaus in Berlin, Klara Festival in Belgium, Mecklenberg Vorpommen Music Festival, Perth International Art Festival Australia, , Barge Music New York, Turku Music Festival, Handelsbeurs (Gent).
Strad Magazine wrote about their "extremely mature and lyrical sound"; the Australian press defined them as the "glory of the Perth Festival 2004". Following on from the success at the fourth Melbourne Competition, where they won the second prize they were invited to partake in an extended Australian tour.
Other successes include first prize at the Vittorio Veneto Competition (the most important Italian competition), first prize at the seventh Cremona International Competition and second prize at the V.Gui International Competition in Florence.
In 2005 the Cremona Quartet received a Borletti-Buitoni Trust Fellowship.
The Quartet has a large repertoire ranging from the early Haydn quartets to the present day, with particular interest in contemporary Italian music ( Vacchi, Berio and Nono)
The 2009-2010 season included their Decca recording debut, a third appearance at London's Wigmore Hall, their debut in Sweden at Båstad Chamber Music Festival and performances for the most renowned Italian music societies, Genova, Palermo, Bologna, Naples, to name but a few.
The Quartet was also nominated "artist in residence" at the Societa' del Quartetto of Milan and is going to be involved in various projects and collaborations that will culminate in 2014 - 150th anniversary of the Societa' del Quartetto - with the complete cycle of the Beethoven quartets. In 2010 the Quartet also won the eleventh Web Concert Hall Competition (USA).
The season 2010-11has included the Quartetto's debut at the Accademia di S.Cecilia in Rome and at the Konzerthaus in Berlin.
In the UK the Quartet has performed twice at Wigmore Hall in London, and at varoius venues around the UK. Their concert at Northern Ireland's Moving on Music on Music Festival was recorded liveby BBC Radio 3. Other highlights for this season have included tours of Denmark, Germany and concerts in Norway.
Upcoming tours over the next seasons include debut tours in the USA, Japan and China and in Europe the Quartet will tour the UK, Scandinavia and Germany.
The Quartetto di Cremona collaborates regularly with soloists such as Bruno Giuranna, Alessandro Carbonare, Andrea Lucchesini, Angela Hewitt, Ivo Pogorelich, Lilya Zilberstein, Cédric Tiberghien and Pieter Wispelwey.
They have recorded the complete string quartets by Fabio Vacchi, released in April 2011 for Decca, further recording plans include the complete string quartets by Beethoven for the German label Audite.
Paolo Andreoli plays a 1752 Stradivari generously loaned by the Fondazione A.Stradivari, Cremona.
